Track Name: There'd Be No Love Songs
I tried
Just for a change
To write something new
And show a little range

But boy
The going got rough
When digging for lines
I found not a lot of stuff

And I can try
The whole day through
But there's only so much I can do

'Cause when I speak of love
More often than not
It's you I'm thinking of

But look
Make no mistake
Though you're like a drug
There's others I can take

But I'll admit they're not the same
And there's only one thing I can blame

I used to talk big but now I know my place
I'm like an old pack that only has one ace
I tried it other ways but what else could I do?
There'd be no love songs if never there was you

For days
Nothing got done
It felt like a chore
It wasn't any fun

I tried
As hard as I could
But nothing I wrote
Was sounding any good

So I wised up
And got in line
And then I had a much better time

I used to talk big but now I know my place
I'm like an old pack that only has one ace
I tried it other ways but what else could I do?
There'd be no love songs if never there was you

So I'll admit
And I'll repeat
There's a lot to be gained in defeat

I used to talk big but now I know my place
I'm like an old pack that only has one ace
I tried it other ways but what else could I do?
There'd be no love songs if never there was you
Track Name: An Honest Mistake
I thought I heard a song in the evening
And I thought the woodwinds had carried the tune
Playing a melody that I knew
And I thought it was you

I thought I'd been in love for the last time
And I thought I'd left what was good in the past
And as so many dreams came so fast
All I knew couldn't last

But oh, it was an honest mistake
I can't rue or regret it
I can't find fault with the errs of my heart
In your case
Am I the first to be fooled
Or the last to admit it?
I freely admit my mistakes
Won't remain in the past

And when I took a walk through a garden
With all of the flowers in varying hues
There was a quiet song coming through
And I thought it was you
Track Name: When the Wind Doesn't Blow
I wrote a song of love
I wasn't really sure
I wasn't in-the-know
I didn't know the score

I played it when we met
And how could it be true?
It felt like all the words
Were always meant for you

But a sail is a rag
When the wind doesn't blow
And a seed like a stone
Without water to grow

They were words from my heart
And I felt they were true
But they didn't make sense
Till I sang them for you

And had it been my wish
The feeling to describe
I doubt that on that night
I could have even tried

But if life is like a stage
And I must play my part
Then it was by some grace
I knew the words by heart

As a sail is a rag
When the wind doesn't blow
And a seed like a stone
Without water to grow

They were words from my heart
And I felt they were true
But they didn't make sense
Till I sang them for you

And please don't think me false
And sentimental, too
To say before we'd met
I wrote them all for you
Track Name: Time Won't Be Wasted
The Sun may pass through the sky
And hours may pass me right by
But time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you

In morning, daytime, or night
I don't need to put up a fight
'Cause time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you

Each day I start
And new loves fill my heart
But your love is better than these

With every day that is new
I hope I can spend it with you
'Cause time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you
No, time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you

The dreams that never came true
Are only the one's without you
And time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you
No, time won't be wasted
If I waste time with you
Track Name: The Star of St. Angelo
Day was on the edge of night
When something killed the light
But that was fine with me

Set against a dying day
Some lightning bugs to light the way
Are all I really need

I followed a road of twilight 'till I hit the stars
You get to a spot that's clear, look up and there they are
And as the world was passing by, I was too amazed to wonder why Why I had never seen so many stars in all my life

Somewhere up where I can't see, is there a star for me?
'Cause oh, it won't come down
Can I tell the meaning of a love my heart keeps dreaming of
Can those words be found?
I'm thinking about the things that almost brought me down
I'm thinking about the times when no one was around
And when I thought that I was through
Well, if I only really knew
That the Star of St. Angelo was watching over you
Is it true?
Track Name: Door of My Heart
Door of my heart
Open wide I keep for Thee
Wilt Thou come, wilt Thou come?
Just for once come to me?

Will my days fly away
Without seeing Thee my love?
Night and day, night and day
I look for Thee night and day
Track Name: When the Music Starts
Rising goes the curtain song
I've held my breath for far too long
And here a chance has come along
Let's take it now before it's gone

Welcome to the notes and chords
From tuned-vibration sounding boards
And to the songs I learned by rote
I'll play them too, and I'll leave no note

And when the music starts, will I know what to say
Without any doubt standing in the way?
One day soon I might sincerely try
But I can't find words to fit my heart's reply
Track Name: Not Unknown to Me
If there were oceans yet to swim
And on the shores to dry
And all the countries in-between
Had never passed me by

With days of music still to play
In every chord and key
And countless chapters still unbound
Without a word from thee

But if in part I knew your heart
Then what more could I see?
When all that I would care to know was
Not unknown to me?

And was it wrong to write a song
And say that it was mine
When careless birds who sang their words
Had left your notes behind

You're just the type of thing I like
You make me think of you
And so to find you on my mind
It isn't hard to do

And if in part I knew your heart
Then what more could I see?
When all that I would care to know was
Not unknown to me?
